No, I'm not talking about the Doors and Jim Morrison's epithet.
Do you remember the movie from the 70s with James Caan, Rollerball? In a corporate controlled future, an ultra-violent sport known as Rollerball represents the world, and one of it's powerful athletes is out to defy those who want him out of the game.
We are now in that "Corporate World" in 2012. The reason is the "Citizens United" ruling by the Conservative Robert's Supreme Court. Money is literally going to decide who we elect as our next President.
Candidate Mitt Romney, GOP, has for all intents and purposes bludgeoned Newt Romney right out of the Republican Primary by outspending him by approximately 16 million dollars to Newt's mere 4 million. This is one State. Can you imagine the money that will be spent next fall during the actual Presidential race? Not that Obama won't fight back, the Democratic Party has a similar war chest, an apt term. We in Utah most likely won't see the brunt of it, because our socially acceptable homey, Mitt Romney is going get about 95 percent of the Utah vote, so big whoop. The swing States will fell the pain, however, in a big way.
In the face of this obscene amount of money, you have candidate Romney saying he really isn't worried about the truly poor. This man cannot open his mouth without sticking his foot in it. If he keeps speaking his mind and going off script, he is going to lose the election to a President presiding over a recession.
Romney has other issues too, such as his tax rate. I grant you, his daily earnings on his interest earning alone is 57-thousand dollars a day is cool. But his tax rate is less than half of what you and I pay and I do resent that. Hey Mitt, earn your 57 large every day, just pay the same taxes I do, OK?
Good luck to us all,
Peace
